Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has urged voters to go to polling centers and exercise their voting rights without fear.
He cast his vote at Adamjee Cantonment College in the capital around 10:30 am on Thursday. Speaking to journalists after voting, he described the voting environment as favorable.
“I would respectfully request all voters to come out of your homes without fear, go to the polling stations, and cast your votes,” he said.
He added, “Today is a very important day in the life of the nation. We hope, Inshallah, that we will be able to complete a free and fair election.”
Highlighting the role of the media, the Army Chief said, “Those who are unable to vote—especially members of the media—you are carrying out a very important responsibility. You are presenting the overall situation of the country to the people. This reassures the public and encourages them to go out and vote.”
